English to American

bonnet- hood of a car
boot- trunk of a car
pants- apparently slang for trash (rubbish)
tipping- leaving rubbish
let- to rent
biscuit- cookie

exit signs are green and show a picture of a man running
bathrooms in houses (at least our houses)generally have a separate room for the toilet and shower (and British plumbing in general leaves something to be desired)

I'll keep updating as I find more differences here across the pond

  1. I love learning words that people use in Britain, Ireland, and Australia for different things. It's so fun :P
